Evolving the Data Center for today’s mobile, social, cloud and app-centric world

Monday, October 17th
1:15 pm – 1:45 pm

Trillions of dollars in “Digital Value” are at stake across every customer segment, enterprise and service provider through digital transformation. To support these strategic initiatives, there has never been a better time to take a fresh look at the infrastructure requirements to support the greater diversity in scale and types of users, apps and locations. This presentation will examine how enterprise IT can fundamentally evolve itself in both infrastructure and operations, toward the larger goal of empowering end-users with more self-service ways to deploy their apps, the lifeblood of the new digital economy

There is no question that the pace of digital transformation is accelerating at breakneck speed with trillions of dollars in “Digital Value” at stake across every customer segment, enterprise and service provider alike. For most companies the gating factor for successful digital transformation will be how effectively and quickly they can adapt their current technology strategies and practices to enable the modern-day apps that drive today’s economy.

With this in mind, there has never been a better time to take a fresh look at the requirements for modernizing the enterprise data center as a necessary step to support the greater diversity in scale and types of users, apps and locations that enterprise IT has to manage today. Smart enterprises and their IT organizations are taking action now. Gartner’s recent prediction states that more than 125,000 enterprises have or will launch major digital transformation projects in 2016 with that number growing exponentially in the coming years.

This presentation will take the audience through a journey from the legacy to the next-gen specifically focused on the data center as the strategic venue for operating enterprise apps. However, as will be explained in this presentation, this evolution of users, apps, and locations will not happen in any orderly sequence. In fact, it is very likely that the legacy and the next-gen will co-exist, requiring enterprise IT to navigate a complex environment that consists of traditional and modern apps, centralized and distributed users, as well as on-prem and cloud infrastructure.

To achieve this, enterprise IT has to fundamentally evolve in terms of both operations and infrastructure, toward the larger goal of empowering end-users with more self-service ways to deploy their apps, the lifeblood of the digital economy. In this session, you will learn the step-by-step ways to accomplish this evolution successfully.

Transforming the workplace requires more than a simple rearrangement of furniture. In order to empower workforce innovation, organizations need to design employee-centric workplaces that meet the needs and working styles of their digital, multi-generational workforces.

The future of work is increasingly digital, global, and mobile. Unfortunately, most of today’s workplaces are not well-suited to engaging employees who increasingly expect to be able to work across a variety of geographic locations, time zones, and digital platforms. 60% of employees worldwide do not believe that their workplaces support their working needs. Not only do sub-optimal workplace layouts adversely impact employee productivity, but they also contribute to lower levels of employee engagement and innovation.
